Published in postwar Amsterdam, the first printing of Het Achterhuis (“The Secret Annex”) in 1947 quickly sold out, and was reprinted several times. The edition includes original photographs of Anne and the hiding place, along with photos of her handwritten diary. Issued under paper-rationed conditions, it represents Otto Frank’s effort to preserve Anne’s memory in the difficult post-war years.
