Jodl
Alfred Jodl’s Nuremberg Trial Signature – Evidence of Guilt
Date: April 5, 1946
Location: Nuremberg, Germany
Medium: Typed affidavit signed
Collection: Yavneh Klos Collection, Holocaust Archive
This signed affidavit, penned by Alfred Jodl during his
imprisonment at Nuremberg, served to authenticate evidence used against him in
the International Military Tribunal. As Chief of the Operations Staff under
Hitler, Jodl issued criminal orders and orchestrated ruthless military
campaigns across Europe. Acting on behalf of Admiral Karl Dönitz, he also
signed Germany’s unconditional surrender in May 1945. Convicted of war crimes
and crimes against humanity, Jodl was executed in 1946. His signature on this document
stands as a chilling testament to the bureaucratic machinery that enabled Nazi
genocide.
